12 July 2010
We have today published an addendum to our policy guidance for migrants who are applying to study in the UK under Tier 4 of the points-based system. The addendum affects students who have International Baccalaureate qualifications awarded on 5 July 2010, and those who are using a loan letter to support their application.
You can download the current Tier 4 policy guidance, which includes the addendum, from our How to apply page.
Student loans
We have changed the criteria for applicants who use a loan letter to show that they have enough money to meet the Tier 4 maintenance (money) requirements. The change affects the date when the loan funds must be made available to you.
International Baccalaureate qualifications
If you are relying on International Baccalaureate qualifications awarded on 5 July 2010, we are aware that you will not be issued with a paper transcript giving your results, and will not receive your award certificate in time to apply for university courses starting in September this year.
To enable you to apply under Tier 4, we have made special arrangements for you. The addendum describes the evidence of your International Baccalaureate qualifications that you must provide when you make your Tier 4 application to us.
