Transferring Money
The most straightforward ways of transferring money are banker's drafts, cashiers cheques and international money orders in Pounds Sterling, drawn on a UK bank. These normally take 7-10 days to clear. Please note that if the cheque is in Dollars it can take up to 28 days to clear and it will be subject to handling and exchange rate charges. Telex is the swiftest but most expensive form of transferring money (the best is the SWIFT system but you are still likely to pay handling charges to both your and the UK bank). If money is sent to you, ask your bank to supply details of the exact amount in Sterling, the date the money was sent, the name of the bank to which the money was sent and the name of the correspondent bank in London.
Travel and personal effects insurance
